Default Nobody Home In the Vista General Forum... NIC-Wake Up

Vista 64-bit Enterprise Edition - SP1 - All Patches Applied

I installed an additional 4 GB of RAM... well... pulled 4GB of PC6400 and
installed 8 GB of PC8500... NO BIOS or OS changes... No new software... same
chipset drivers, and so on... the ONLY problem I have is NOW... when my
system wakes from sleep, the network adapter is "disconnected" and has to be
reset before my internet service is restored...

NIC Driver Version: NVidia - 67.8.9.0 (as updated by Windows Update LONG
BEFORE this problem)

There's a WARNING in the event log but no error... My systems specs follow
the event log data below... help ? thoughts ?

Default Nobody Home In the Vista General Forum... NIC-Wake Up

Hi
Run Memtest86 and make sure that the new Memory is OK.
http://www.memtest86.com/
Also check the Advanced Power setting for the Network card specific
configuration and make sure it is set correctly.

Default Nobody Home In the Vista General Forum... NIC-Wake Up

Thank you Jack... NO memory errors on memtest86... Allow the computer to
turn off this device is NOT checked, and under advanced tab,
"WakeOnLAN from Power Off" and "Low Power State Link Speed" are enabled...
I'd not made any changes there anyways... Is this a Vista Policy issue
perhaps ? The "semaphore timeout period" as described in the warning or
something now that my system's speedier than before ?

Again thanks... timb

Default Nobody Home In the Vista General Forum... NIC-Wake Up

Hi
Given every thing that you posted I am befuddled too.
I do not know about anything in vista per-se that should cause it.
Another avenue to try is the Wireless Drivers. See if there is newer
drivers. Look at both the Card's vendor and the OEM drivers of the chipset
manufaturerx64 drivers.

Default Nobody Home In the Vista General Forum... NIC-Wake Up

Well... I'd already reinstalled the chipset drivers and it didn't help...
HOWEVER... and this is TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much... After no joy on
reinstalling the chipset drivers, I set the NIC to ALLOW THE COMPUTER TO
TURN OFF THIS DEVICE TO SAVE POWER... and bingo... the NIC restores
perfectly on wake up now...

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY ?????? Surely it's because Vista is insane..

IT MAKES NOOOOOOOOOOO SENSE !!!!!!
