Default Vista detects Wireless network, but it takes up to 10 minutes todo so

Hi

I have an XP Home machine and a Vista Home Premium setup to use a
wireless network.

The only issue I'm having is the fact that Vista doesn't detect the
other machine for quite some time. Once connected it's solid and file
transfers are generally at a decent rate.

I've disabled firewalls on both machines + router to see if that was
part of the issue. Certain I must be overlooking something stupid, any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
You are right you probably missed something small. However you sit in front
of the computer and you do not see a small miss, so think how about the
probability that someone who is not there would see it.
Thus the only thing that I can think of,is giving you the info and you
should go over everything once more.
Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local
traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should
be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers
on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party
Firewall instructions.
