I do not have a way to undelete thread content that I have previously
deleted.
If the HDD does not show up in the BIOS of your Vista computer but does show
up in XP on another computer when using the same cable and since you have no
BIOS settings that enable/disable bus connections such as the IDE or floppy
bus I am baffled.
Have you tried a different IDE device such as an optical drive?

itself? No problem anyways, here's what i've tried:

Set jumpers to master, slave, cable select, and no jumpers.
Put HDD on both bus cables, primary and secondary.
Put HDD on both cables and tried all jumper settings.
Updated BIOS
Updated motherboard drivers
Updated Vista
Will not show in BIOS or vista 32
HDD does show in XP 32 though in different computer
HDD is Ultra ATA 100, everything else is Ultra ATA 133 or SATA II.

Thanks.

Hi, thanks.

I have a setting in my BIOS for SATA or IDE for RAID, but that's all
for IDE bus settings. It is set to SATA, but my other IDE devices still
run fine.

I have 1 IDE 133 HDD on my primary bus and a dvd rom (optical) on my
secondary bus. All works fine.

I have 2 HDD's on my SATA ports on mother board set to RAID 0.

Yes i have disabled the Floppy drive setting in BIOS. I will try to
enable again and post results.

Are ATA 133 cables different from ATA 100's?

I am now totally confused.
You say the you have some IDE drives that work and which are seen by your
BIOS but that you have others that are not.
And you say your RAID is configured to use SATA drives since it can not use
both.

So the problem is with one particular IDE HDD then since others work?
What is the capacily, format, and age of the drive?
For some reason it is apparently not spinning up to speed fast enough or not
at all for the BIOS to recognize it.
Is there any possibility that there is not enough power available for all
the devices in the system to start up and run concurrently?

Yes, this one drive is the problem. All other drives are seen in BIOS
and OS.

Capacity is 40gb. Format is NTFS. Age is unknown, but is old. Brand
is Maxtor.

Hmm, not enough power, could be possible, but i'm using 350w PSU. I
really don't have much power drain from peripherals. Largest drain
would be my graphics card.

40GB means it is pretty old, the manufacturer date should be on the label.
Since it is old I suspect it requires a lot more power then newer drives
especially at boot time.
350 Watts is not much power if you have a lot of drives and a current
generation HD capable graphics card and a multi core processor. 500 watts
would be more appropriate.
Try removing the other IDE drives you might find that there is then enough
power for the old drive to spin up at boot time.

I unplugged all IDE devices except the 40GB HDD, just to see if BIOS at
least would pick it up. It did not show in BIOS still and did not spin.

On top of all this, i also have a Western Digital 750GB HDD SATA II
that will not show up in OS, or BIOS if i use an SATA cable. I can only
get the 750gb HDD to show up in BIOS and OS if i use my eSATA enclosure.
:sarc::cry:

Sounds like its time for a new motherboard?
