Default complete crash- unable to do anything

Ok, last friday I booted up my computer, but whenever I tried to do
anything the computer would lock up. Then when I pressed Ctrl Alt Del I
got the famous "Failure security options" dialogue box. Also, on one
occasion I got past this stage, but wheneer I pressed anything I got a:
"Instruction at 0x76f020d1 referenced bad memory at 0x76c6f200. Memory
could not be written"
dialogue box, although this has not happened since.
Having read up on this topic on the net I then decided to try and
uninstall my antivirus (Avg 8), but because it crashes out whenever I
try and do anything in normal mode, I decided to try it in safe mode.
But, when I tried to boot up in safe mode It gets stuck at crcdisk.sys
and I have to hard reboot.

The system is a Dell XPS m1530, with vista Home Premium x32, Only had
it about 8-9 months, so hardware should be ok. Any help You can give
would be very much appreciated
Thanks in advance

Just because the computer is new doesn't mean the hardware is OK. In fact,
if hardware if going to fail it will usually do so fairly soon. Your case
sounds like failing hardware since you experience the problem in Safe Mode.

You can do some hardware troubleshooting yourself, starting with the hard
drive, or contact Dell tech support since the machine is still under
warranty.
