I was burning a DVD and while in the process my laptop froze. The DVD
completed and ejected but I could not get further response. Ctrl, Alt, Del
brought up the task manager option but it would not access task manager or
any other option. I have powered it down several times but each time I
power it back up everything appears frozen just as it was when I powered it
down. My yahoo music page is still frozen along with yahoo messenger and my
mouse pad icon, which I was trying to adjust at the time, still appears. I
cannot key anything in, bring up task manager or get any kind of response.
Why wouldn't powering down get rid of everything and ask me to start Windows
normally?

The laptop is not powering down. It is probably going into hibernate. A good
idea would be to remove ac power AND the battery. This would force the
laptop to start from cold..

I tried removing the battery and unplugging the laptop and I still get the
same frozen screens. I cannot even get to the Start menu or I would attempt
a restore. The mouse pointer if frozen and I can right click and bring up
the options but that's all.

Lisa

You will most likely have to do a destructive restore on your computer. If
you have no backups of important stuff, find somebody who will hook your
drive up to their computer and save what you can..
