When you configure an email account you need to specify the names / addresses of 2 things - the machine you want to contact to get your email from and the machine you want to use to send email to other people. The POP3 or IMAP server is the machine you want to download your mail from. The SMTP server is the machine you want to use to send your mail for you. Depending on who you use for your email depends on what settings you put here, for example I see you are using a Yahoo address in these forums so therefore I can probably assume that this may help - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...5130554AAXvbPU (note - it seems you need Yahoo plus or something to use POP3 etc...) Sometimes you get an email account with your internet package - in that case, your provider can provide your email address, POP3 / IMAP server and SMTP server information - just give them a call. Hopefully this is of some use to you. Good Luck! Jon www.insidetheregistry.com --- |

I see you posted with a Yahoo email address. Is that your
only email address? US-based free Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no POP access. Windows Mail handles POP mail but not Yahoo webmail. Yahoo's solution is to pay for premium "Mail Plus" service: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...iew/index.html and use the special settings for that service: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...op/pop-14.html If you are OK with using a non-Yahoo email address, you have these other solutions that will work with Windows Mail: * Use the email address assigned to you by your ISP. * Use a free Gmail, AOL, or Hotmail/Live account. If you need more help with any of these solutions, just ask. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Archie R. Dodd" wrote in message ...
