Windows Vista Business Edition 32-bit. Checking for Windows update never
ends.

Windows Update was enabled, and the system was manually updated a month ago.
Since then no updates have been automatically applied. Checking for
updates manually never ends. Turned off auto updates, rebooted and tried
again with the same results.

Interesting part is:

Most recent check for updates: NEVER
Updates were installed: NEVER

Yet when you view update history it shows the 20+ updates that have been
done in the past.

Below are the last 20 lines or so of the WindowsUpdate.log file for your
review.
