You should not be contacting HP support.
Did you try the instructions from Carey's post above? "s10480" wrote in message ... nope i did not i got the 3 things listed there im on techicnal support but i cant get past the automated stuff i just need someone about reactivating -- s10480 |

Your Vista OEM installation is tied to the HP motherboard BIOS, THAT is why
you cannot reactivate, also your HP recovery will no longer functions as the original HP motherboard is no longer installed. You've put yourself in a bad place as Microsoft is not responsible for support of your OEM product, and HP will likely tell you your SOL as you modified the hardware, they will likely refuse to support you. -- Crosspost, do not multipost http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 "s10480" wrote in message ... nope i did not i got the 3 things listed there im on techicnal support but i cant get past the automated stuff i just need someone about reactivating -- s10480 |

Activation IS CRAP!!! please help
A HP install key is likely not going to work with a gigabyte motherboard. In
effect you have a new computer and the key is tied to the original motherboard - which you are no longer using. You will need a generic O.E.M. install key or a retail install key to activate. -- Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "s10480" wrote in message ... i belive this did come off of a HP and say i do call them will they not give me a new one or how does that work, again thanks for the responce just trying to figure this out. -- s10480 |

If it came from a different computer, you know that your can't install it on another computer. Buy a legitimate version! |

Activation IS CRAP!!! please help
What would have come off of the HP would have been a set of 3-5 recovery
DVDS and not a single CD? Also does your HP have its product key on a label on the back, or bottom of the cabinet? If so is it the same as the one you found with the key finder? This is the key belongs to the system and not to you and can only be reused with a MOBO replacement of the same model MOBO in the system due to a MOBO failure.
