This never happened for a couple of days but as I started updating Vista, the Blue Screen Error has been occurring. the Problems Center in Vista advised me to update to SP1 because it said that this issue has been resolved in the latest service pack. After updating, the problem is still here. When i boot Vista up its normal, and operates perfectly. But when the issue of putting my computer on sleep or shutting down/restarting, the Blue Screen appears and restarts my computer so i have to resort to turning it off manually. Help please =( -- arcisis |

Help please =( Updating Vista with what? Windows Updates? Program updates? Antivirus updates? Driver updates? Something you installed is crashing when you shut down and you need to figure out what that is. 1. Disable the automatic restart. In Control Panel Vista-style - click on System and Maintenance. In Control Panel Classic View - double-click the System applet. In the task pane on the left, click the Advanced system settings link. Locate the Startup and Recovery area and click on the Settings button. In the Startup and Recovery window, locate and uncheck the check box next to Automatically restart. OK your way out. 2. Read the Stop Error on the blue screen. You can research it he http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm This may also help: http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm - Shutdown Troubleshooter Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/#FAQ |

Ummmmm...I was updating with Windows Update. Nothing more nothing less Then look at what you installed. If you installed a driver update, this could definitely cause the issue. Go to the Windows Update applet in Control Panel and see if you can figure out what you installed. If you see a driver update in there, roll it back. Roll Back Troublesome Device Drivers in Windows Vista from the How-To Geek - http://tinyurl.com/346lox Or uninstall the updates you installed and then only install them one at a time, testing after each installation. Do you have an HP PC , with HP update activated? If yes, check with HP chat support to get advice on disabling a driver that was installed by HP Update called HP RC Mirror Driver. It may be the cause of BSOD. -- bellacoup |

I actually have a Gateway computer. Also since this problem is caused by a program not closing properly, is there a way for me to see which program isn't closing properly?? -- arcisis |
