Most likely a driver issue ... Make sure all your drivers are updated
"Xzor64" wrote in message ... I keep getting this error and the computer is totally new, I just loaded it up with a few programs (which ran fine on my old machine) and it started crashing to a blue screen that gives me a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error message. I understand it creates some sort of minidump file, if this is helpful for anyone who might know what this error is and how to fix it, please let me know. -- Xzor64 |

Hi Xzor64,
The first thing you need to do is get the full error message. One way to get the full message is to click Start, on the right side of the Start menu Right click Computer, then click properties. A window will open in the control panel System. Look at the left column under Task and you will see Advanced system settings, click it then answer the UAC prompt. This will open System Properties. Under the Startup and Recovery heading click on Settings... another dialog will open under the heading System failure UNCHECK the box next to Automatically restart and Click OK. Now, the next time you get the blue screen with this message you can get all the information and even a possible fix. Just copy/note all that info and post those details back here. This STOP error can occur during startup or at any other time. In my option, and the first thing you should understand is that there are no software downloads/scans from any web site that can magically fix your issue, so don't try them. The error message you are getting will in all likely hood have been caused by the user of the system installing software programs, hardware and or the software/drivers used by the hardware devices that may not be Vista compatible. Yes and since you've said this is a "totally new machine", it could also be caused by other than direct user input. The error message is generated by Vista but not caused by Vista. Vista is only protecting the Operating system from being damaged. Vista will try to disable the effected program(s) or device(s) it can and still be operational. In the mean time it will be of great benefit to you in solving this issue to read the article at the link below. http://www.geekswhoknow.com/articles...s_or_equal.htm If you are good at reading between the lines the information at the above link on how to solve your issue can be good steps to follow when installing new/old hardware and software programs that ran fine in some other type of operating system. Please read the the information from all the following links below for more important information. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958233 http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page5.html#Vista http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...ardware_Tshoot I ask that in your future post, that you quote any relevant information from the replies so other reading these post will fully understand your issue and what has been recommended or tried so far to fix it. This gives other quicker reads and they may be more prone to providing you with other helpful information of their own.
