Default Auto back-up error 0x80070424

When attempting to have my Back-up updated I keep receiving the following
error message 0x80070424.
When I look for a way to correct this error I find many asking similar
questions but am unable to find any answers to the problem.
I am a complete novice and find all the gobble-de-gook on the numerous pages
relating to this problem very confusing and not very helpful.
Can anyone please exlpain the answer in plain, straight forward terms, or is
there no anser .I am using Windows Vista (Home premium) o/s.
