I can't get my laptop to recognize my dvd burner. I read earlier
threads about deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry but,
I can't find those filters in the registry file. What am I doing wrong?

running Vista Ultimate 64 w/ SP1
HP Pavillion DV-6768se
4 gigs ram
AMD Turion 64 X2 2.0 GHZ

I had pretty much the same problem, only with a desktop. I ended up booting
into safe mode, reinstalling drivers, and then it was fine.
Hope this works for you.

Hi Scott , You can try this to fix this issue:
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/20...puter-fix.html.

Also, read the notes section at the botton of the tutorial.

Before try the quick fix option below, remove any third party burning
software you have installed on your system. After you have applied the quick
fix and rebooted computer. Then reinstall your burning software.
