Now that I can access documents on my Main PC from my Laptop, is there a way
to set the default directories for Word & Excel on my Laptop to get files from my Main PC? |

The best way (IMHO) would be to point your Documents folder on the Laptop at the one on the PC and then set it to use Off-line files. That way if the network suddenly drops while you are editing a file (Word certainly, creates a temp file in the folder in which the file you are working on resides - I don't know whether Excel does this)the temp file won't suddenly be unavailable. Have a look here for more info on off-line files: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...linefiles.mspx http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307853 They both are about XP but the principles are the same.... And here's a general page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offline...#Offline_Files HTH -- Asking a question? Please tell us the version of the application you are asking about, your OS, Service Pack level and the FULL contents of any error message(s) |
