Default No Windows Live Messenger after SP2

The very first time I rebooted after installing Vista Home Premium SP2
my Live Messenger application refused to start. Now, after several
reboots I still will not start. Is this being caused by SP2, or some
other sort of problem? Nothing new, other than SP2, has been installed
and it was working fine just before SP2.

Apparently, SP2 messed with some core files that Messenger needed so
when I reinstalled Messenger - twice - it finally runs normally.

I thought it was very interesting. When I re-installed Messenger, three
or four DLL files were replaced and Messenger started right up. When it
was not starting, there were no errors shown in the event log, nor were
there any type of notices in Task Manager that Messenger even TRIED to
start. The only indication I had was a brief "spinning circle" cursor
and then ... nothing.
