Default Earphones not working

I had some work done on my Windows Vista computer and now the speakers work
fine still but when I plug the earphones in the speakers are still working,
not the earphones.
Any help would be great.

Do the earphones plug into the front of your computer? If yes then the
internal cable connection between the front connector and the MOBO is
probably no longer connected.
