wireless security stopped
i have a realtek 8187b wlan card in my toshiba satellite a215-s7437, running
vista premium 64-bit. every now and then (not consistent), the connection drops unexpectedly, and when i try to reconnect to the wireless network, it says there are no wireless connections available, when i know there are at least 5-6 in range. the only solution i have found so far is to disable the card in device manager and reenable it. i did some poking around and created a custom event log for wlan events within last 12 hours. this turned up an event common to every instance where the connection had dropped: Wireless security stopped. Network Adapter: Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter Interface GUID: {a91bf110-4f90-4b5b-b61f-b8dcd39273e4} Local MAC Address: 00:16:44:15:20:69 Network SSID: iheartboobies BSS Type: Infrastructure Peer MAC Address: 00:1F:33:25:0C:3A Security Hint: The operation succeeds. following this initial information event, wlan autoconfig will disconnect (info), reconnect (info), and attempt wireless network association (info), where it will subsequently fail (err). before posting this, i read http://www.microsoft.com/communities...=en-us&m=1&p=1 which seems to describe the same problem, although without much investigation into the cause. is anyone else having the same problems? if there are no good drivers, is it possible to write a script to perform device disable/enable so i don't have to click through to the device manager myself? |
