Computer shuts down.
Hi, Kristoffer.
WinXP or Vista probably doesn't matter in this case. Random restarts are almost always caused by problems with hardware, not software. So start with cleaning out dust bunnies, as the others have said. Then check for other things that could cause heat buildup. Check all cables and connections. Look for RF interference from nearby electrical devices (TVs, microwaves...long list). There's no way we can list all the possibilities. But we can almost guarantee that it is a hardware problem, not a Windows problem. And defragmenting won't solve it. RC -- R. C. Computer shuts down.
In most cases it is either like mentioned Dirt causing overheating or bad
power supply. As suggested clean out your computer. If it still reboots after cleaning it out you likely have a bad power supply. "Manny Weisbord" wrote in message ... Manny,
It is possible your friend has their computer to automatically restart on a BSOD which in turn could be caused by a software failure. "Dan H" wrote in message ...
