Default copy / backup

Hello

I have about 3 GBytes of picture files that I keep in my Pictures directory.
I sometimes copy them all to a USB 'memory stick' partly as a backup &
partly to use them on other computers. It takes quite awhile to copy &
overwrite them all. I would like to copy/overwrite only those files which
have been edited, or which are new.

Should I be using some sort of advanced copy command, or should I be looking
at the backup options, or perhaps the 'briefcase' (which I have never tried)
?

I have Vista home premium

Thanks

KK

Default copy / backup

There are a number of options, starting with the command-line XCOPY included
with Windows, meandering through free tools like SyncToy from Microsoft, and
running all the way through pay-to-use utilities.

You could try a sync program like Allway Sync ( 'Allway Sync: Free File
Synchronization, Backup, Data Replication, PC Sync Software, Freeware,
File Sync, Data Synchronization Software'
(http://allwaysync.com/index.html) ). But that will only work for
pictures where the filename is new or changed. A picture that has only
been edited will not be covered.

I would recommned here free file manager
http://www.freecommander.com/
( big similarity to well known shareware total Commander )

It has built in feature folder synchronization,
with multiple options.

It is probably all you would need for your goal.

But Xcopy works fine as well.

I would suggest it too,
but I was afraid the OP could easily get lost
in big bunch of options of this powerful tool.
