Default Wayward mouse

Running Vista Home Premium IE8
The following problem occurs randomly in whichever program I am using .This
is just an example selecting view in the menu bar then text size in the
drop down box, attempting to move the mouse arrow to the text size in the
size sub Menu the size menu list is minimized. This happens regardless of
how many attempts I make. Can anyone suggest a remedy please?
Regards

Does this happen if you try a different mouse?

I'm not sure why this is happening and Googling doesn't get me too much
further.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed
between the time things worked and the time they didn't? How long have you
had the problem?

Any third-party theming applications installed? New text-management
software?

Does the same thing happen in another user account? If you don't have
another user account, make one from Control PanelUser Accounts to test.

Do you have any Accessibility Options in force? Go to Control PanelEase of
Access Center and check. If any options are enabled, disable them.
