Instant shutdowns
I have recently installed a Hitachi 7k1000.B hard drive as a replacement for a WD one. ever since I have done this Vista shuts down within 10 or 15 minutes unexpectedly and without an error message. I am dual-booting with Ubuntu 9.04 "Jaunty" which has been up and running for almost 80 hours now on a geforce8200 motherboard with onboard sound and video. This seems to be Vista specific. I have tried blowing out my case, upgrading bios, checking connections, reseeding RAM and HD, checking power supply, and system temp is normal. I can easily rule out that this is NOT a hardware issue but rather a windows issue. I have searched google for a few hours now without finding anything useful. I have Vista installed, but it is unuseable due to the frequent shutdowns. Does anybody have any idea as to why this is happening? Thanks, Dementis -- Dementis |

Is Ubutu on the same drive as Vista?
Do you have Vista SP2 installed? Is there any possibility that the Hitachi drives uses more power then the WD drive did? "Dementis" wrote in message ...
