DVD writer not detected properely
The hard drive in my dell Inspiron 1525, running Vista Home Basic (32 bit) failed last week and I was provided a replacemnt hard drive by dell the next day. However after reinstalling windows and Ubuntu (the system is a dual boot), I installed all the vista drivers including the latest firmware for the dvd writer, the firmware seemed to install properely. If however I try to reinstall the firmware, I just get the message, no compatible drive detected. The DVD writer is detected and fully functional in Ubuntu, so it it purely a Vista issue. |
