Cannot boot to safe mode using f8. I can get there through
msconfig/boot but feel there must be something wrong.
Please help if you can.

Hi,

Timing is everything. Too early and you might lock up the POST, too late and
it won't work. The time to hit F8, sometimes repeatedly, is that point where
the BIOS passes control of the boot to the hard drive. Generally this is
immediately after the initial POST ends (something that is often covered by
manufacturer splash screens), and immediately before the OS begins loading -
once it has started, it's too late.

Are you using a USB keyboard? Is legacy USB enabled in BIOS?

Amazing!
I just went into the bios again and discovered the listings for usb
keyboard and mouse. Enabled both and now f8 works.
Who'd a thunk it?
Thank you
