I'm using Vista backup and restore centre to do a full backup to a DVD and
it's now been running for more than 24 hours! The little green bar showing progress is fairly close to the end but doesn't seem to be advancing any further. Must be something wrong. Should I just end the process and wait until I can get a portable drive to back up to and use some other software altogether? Will the files on my DVD be of any use? I'll let this run for a while longer but it seems hopeless. I haven't got THAT much stuff on my computer! |

Subsequent backups take about 10 min. MickK |

Even to a DVD (which is a bad choice anyhow) a backup should not take more than 1 hour. I would try some other program and use an external disk. In this thread, I explain a few options: ( 'Ghosting approaches - summary because of popular demand « How-To Geek Forums' (http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic...and?replies=46) ). If you do not have an external disk yet, I recommend the Maxtor One Touch. It comes with all the backup and imaging software (Maxtor Manager). -- whs |

Hi Donna,
I use Vista Backup & Restore as well, it works O.K. Total backup time is about 1 hour and requires 3 DVD-RW+ for a HF booked at about 60 Giga. I don’t know why using 4.5 Gb optical disks would be a wrong option ? "Donna" wrote in message ...
