Hello,
I'm trying to access the device manager remotely on a windows Vista computer. I open compmgmt.msc from another computer an I can see everything (services, local users, event log) but whenever I click on the device manager I get "Access is Denied". been searching for two days but cannot find any additional settings I need to try. I'm running this as the AD administrator user, so I'm a member of the local administrators group. I've enabled remote administration, disabled the firewall, disabled UAC, and tried just about every security setting I can find. It works fine if I'm accessing the device manager locally, so it's only remote that is a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Adam Ruth |

Hey I realize this post is way old, but since it's at the top of the google hits when I search for remote administration of the device manager, I thought I'd put a link in to Andrew's Server 2008 blog. 'Server Core : Configuring the Firewall for Remote Management of a Workgroup Server Core installation' (http://tinyurl.com/6fq9t9) Read up, and you'll have no problems ![]() -- eisenpony Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
