"Backup" refers to saving your own data. Your own files and folders you
should copy to an external device (external disk or USB stick of
sufficient capacity). Then after the reinstallation you can recover that
data and put it back into the corresponding folders. This is required
because the reinstallation of Vista will destroy everything that you
currently have.
Note: The procedure I posted is for a Gateway/EMachines PC. If you have
a different make, the procedure may be slightly different. That's why I
had asked to give me the make of your PC.

HI Joan Archer. I HAVE SOME PROBLEMS DIFRENT EVERY TIME. 1-WHEN I HAVE
UPDATE FROM WINDOWS UPDATE,AFTER FINISH INST AND RESTART IS STOP
EVERYTHING BEFORE TO SHOW THE WINDOW "Micosoft-corporation". THIS HAPEN
1TIME. 2-WHEN IS START WINDOWS THEY WANT 5-7MINUTES TO BE OK. if i give
1click display is White and does not accept click NO.

3-SOME TIMES IS BLOCK Sometimes one above another window
freeze and show message: "Control barred window, windows WILL perform
Restart". When Restart Back Display A black icon programs that I have.
have nice time.
