I went into the Easy Backup function both through the button on the front of the processor and through the software function - in both procedures, clicking the - Restore Files - produces no reaction of any sort. Going into help, however, I am informed that Easy Backup does not have a Restore Files function in Vista Home Premium software. Hence my problem. If you used HP Easy Backup for the backup operation, it's apparent that you need to use the same software program to restore the backup. |

I said that the restore function must be in the Easy Backup program, and it is. "Bill Daggett" wrote: Jim wrote: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=3697300 "clarissa" must be a blonde. Dear JeanG: I am no expert on this topic, but I have an HP Pavilion PC. It has the HP Easy Backup program on it also. When I run the program, it wants to automatically do a backup presenting a popup dialog box saying "Your automatic backup is about to begin". If yours does this just click the Cancel button. Now on the first screen, at the bottom, there are three command boxes. The third one from the left is entitled Restore Your Files. Click on this command box. If your program is like mine, you should be able to restore your file from your backup disk by following the program prompts. (You may need to read the Help, if the prompts are not clear to you.) If you have further problems, just detail them, and I'm sure one of us can help you. Good luck, Cohjef FYI: I believe that the HP Easy Backup program is just a "front-end" that actually runs the Vista "Back up files", and "Restore files" programs that can be found in the Vista Backup and Restore Center on the Start menu. So you have two ways to get at the same backup and restore programs.:geek: -- cohjef |

Bill As I have tried to explain before the - Restore Files - function does
NOT work in my software Vista Home Premium - did you check that out as well? "clarissa" wrote in message ... Hi Gordon Yes it is an HP desk top computer I just bought in Jan/09 and has the Easy Backup function (and button on front of processor) but the software is Microsoft Vista Home Premium which does not have the Restore Files function (apparently only on more advanced version of Vista) - sounds kind of stupid if you ask me but there it is. So my problem - how to restore my files. Clarissa "Gordon" wrote: This really rather begs the question as to why you didn't just copy your "Documents" folder onto some sort of external media rather than use this "HP Backup" application. Unless you have access to either a) the original machine or b) someone-else's XP HP computer I think you may be rather stuffed.... Err, this realy begs the question as to why don't you shove, Err, your sigh head up your Net cop ass? Err. |
