Dear JeanG:

I am no expert on this topic, but I have an HP Pavilion PC. It has the
HP Easy Backup program on it also. When I run the program, it wants to
automatically do a backup presenting a popup dialog box saying "Your
automatic backup is about to begin". If yours does this just click the
Cancel button.

Now on the first screen, at the bottom, there are three command boxes.
The third one from the left is entitled Restore Your Files. Click on
this command box. If your program is like mine, you should be able to
restore your file from your backup disk by following the program
prompts. (You may need to read the Help, if the prompts are not clear to
you.)

If you have further problems, just detail them, and I'm sure one of us
can help you.
Good luck, Cohjef

FYI: I believe that the HP Easy Backup program is just a "front-end"
that actually runs the Vista "Back up files", and "Restore files"
programs that can be found in the Vista Backup and Restore Center on the
Start menu. So you have two ways to get at the same backup and restore
programs.:geek:

And if you'd done that in the first place, all this meandering thread
wouldn't have been needed!

I would have done that if someone had suggested it - no one did. I do not
appreciate being called a moron by people who work for a company that sells
Vista that turns out to be crap. the reason I had problems is because the
software froze for the 4th time , each time requiring repairs that wipe out
all my data. All of you should get out more often dont bother sending a
reply Frankly I have had quite enough of your ----

No one here works for Microsoft.
It’s a peer-to-peer group.

Many don't even use Microsoft's server.

One or two MS employees do post here occasionally, but that fact is in their
signature(I believe).
They wouldn't respond to you in that way.

It's USENET, and abusive talk is just the way it is (for many).
Don't let it get under your skin.
It's not really personal.

Err sorry, it's HEWLETT PACKARD software that you are complaining about -
not MICROSOFT.

Do you go to a Ford dealer to complain that your Honda doesn't work?
Sheeeesh!
