Anyone else haveing problems with epson scanners and epson scan software?
I'm running Vista RTM 5744 and have downloaded the correct drivers from epson. All I get is that Epson Scan cannot be started. I've been in contact with epson but they just tell me to do what I've already done, download new software/drivers for vista, unintall scanner, install software turn on scanner. Been there, done that! Any tips from people out there that this may have happened to? Otherwise I just have a very expensive paper weight sitting here on my desk. The computer says that the scanner is working correctly from device manager and it show the new drivers have been installed, just no scanner software works. I've also tried other software like Windows Photo Gallery and Picasa.... thanks scott |

Which scanner? Are you getting through the entire install procedure? I've
got an Epson Perfection 1200U. If I remember correctly, when I tried to install the Epson TWAIN software, it wouldn't complete. I think I had to go into Device Manager, find the scanner, right click on it and tell it to update the drivers. Then point it to where the Epson routine dumped the files (c:\epson). It might be possible that instead of that, after trying to install the software, I just turned on the scanner and then pointed it to that same directory. "Scott" wrote in message ... If it works using TWAIN as some is suggesting, see if you can go into
Services and disable Windows Image Acquizition. This worked for me in WIN2000 with my old scis HP SJ5P. I think you can probably reenable the WIA after getting it working. In my case it was installing the old HP software that used TWAIN that gave me a working scanner, although before it was listed in Device Manager and not flagged as a problem -- it just would not scan g |
