"Jim V" wrote in message ... Since updating my system to Vista, I can no longer print a page in Internet Explorer 7. The printer works fine from other applications, and this error appears to occur when IE7 is trying to bring up the printer dialog. The first error is: "Cannot find 'file///C:/TEMP/Low/0C39BEFZ.htm'. Make sure the path or internet address is correct." C:/TEMP/Low exists, but is empty. When are you checking it? My guess would be that it shouldn't be empty at least while the dialog is up. I would run FileMon to check for a file permissions problem in that folder. The second error presumably occurs because of the first one (the error handling could be a little more graceful, I think). Internet Explorer Script Error: "An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line: 2026 Char: 1 Error: Object required Code: 0 URL: res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? [Yes] [No]" They certainly could improve on the diagnostics. E.g. it looks as if the Line: 2026 will be referring to a different module. So even if you wanted to check the context of the error using the source you would have to use a script debugger to find out where it really is getting that error. FWIW I get similar messages to that one trying to run .swf files either locally or via direct URL. My workaround in that case is (ironically IMO) to toggle _on_ LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN by _unchecking_: Allow active content to run on files in My Computer* (in Options, Advanced tab, Security section) Note that the asterisk means that a restart of IExplore.exe is required before any testing of the new setting will be valid. BTW is the Vista Help page _still_ pointing to IE General instead of Vista Printing Faxing and Scanning? If so you will have to find a different portal which lists *all* the Vista newsgroups. Hmm... looks as if it has finally been fixed? http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/com...s/default.mspx Good. HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- |

I have exactly the same problem except that my folder 'low' does not exist at all! I can neither print a web page, nor preview a web page. Also my 'favorites' folder does not work ! I have tried resetting Internet Explorer and I have tried uninstalling and re-installing HP printer driver for my printer (HP Office Jet 6210 All in One) but it has made no difference. HP seem unable to help ! Anyone got any ideas ? It is nice (if not very helpful!) to know I am not the only one with this problem -- Lesleyd |

Not AVG 8.0 but I do have AVG 7.5 so possibly this is a problem too? I also have AVG Anti-Rootkit and AVG Anti-Spyware How far off is the cure ? Should I uninstall any of the above and will that cure my problem? Thank you for your prompt reply - I now feel as if I am getting somewhere -- Lesleyd |

Hi ! - I am back again ! Just received the following fix from HP. It does work (dont forget to restart IE), however everytime you restart the browser you get the annoying pop-up tab warning you that there is a message in the information bar which tells you that the security mode is switched off. Not sure what other implications there are for having it switched off !!! Hopefully a fix for the AVG Problem might allow us to re-enable the protected mode. ..................Here is the fix...... ::This could be due to Protected Mode feature included in Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista. Depending on how you choose to print, you may receive an error message, or the print dialog may simply not appear. To correct this issue, you will need to disable Protected Mode in your browser. To do this, perform the steps given below::: ::1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, then Internet Options. 2. Click the Security tab. 3. Click to remove the checkmark from the Enable Protected Mode checkbox. 4. Click OK to save your settings. You will receive a dialog saying that disabling Protected Mode wil put your computer at risk. Click OK to clear this message. 5. Restart Internet Explorer. Now try printing or saving web pages in Favourites. Also, I recommend you to try printing using an alternative browser such as Mozilla Firefox or the Opera Browser. :: -- Lesleyd |

If you have AVG 8 on your computer look at the post in this forum from
Christopher titled: RE AVG 8.0 and you will have an answer to your dilemma. Almost all who have AVG 8 with Vista have the same problem. or use this link: http://www.microsoft.com/communities...&lang=en&cr=us "Lesleyd" wrote in message ...
