Default Connect to the network manually

Hey i have a different case. I have a wireless modem that is capable of
wl and wired. i am fine with the wl part , but when whenever i just plug
in the lan cable , it connects me to the internet without asking for the
user name and password. can anybody give me the steps on how to change
the settings for me so that the com will request for a password and
username before connecting to the internet. please do not tell me how to
connect via wireless i know that. thank you and i am a vista home
premium user 32bit.

I'm pretty sure you can reach the modem's control panel through a normal
browser, just search the manual for the right ip address (mine uses
192.168.1.1).
I could configure mine to automatically connect or to let me dial the
pppoe from my computer!
