To start at the beginning: I installed an AIO printer, did a print job fine,
did a scan job & sent it in an email fine on 8/25. I have my update mgr. set to check for updates but ask me which to install & on 8/26 there were 6 or 7 I chose to install. While the installation was in progress, a minor crisis needing my attention occured elsewhere in my home, when I came back SOMEHOW that darned IE8 was being installed. I had that before & uninstalled because it was causing problems with my winmail so I avoid IE8 like the plague every time it pops up on updates. I keep hiding it. So during the installation I chose the "cancel" installation option. Since that time my printer won't do print jobs & I get a message saying: IE Script Error An error has occured in the script on this page Line: 1829 Char: 1 Error: unspecified error Code: 0 URL: res//ieframe.dll/preview.dlg Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Options of yes or no are given. This message appears whether I'm trying to print an internet page, one of my files or an email in my winmail. Furthermore, when it's my winmail it tells me I have to pick a printer 1st & when I hit print the winmail freezes, I can't close it. I use escape--it's a no go. NOTHING in the winmail functions. In order to close it I have to use the task manager. I've uninstalled the printer & re-installed, updated it's drivers and done test pages. Everything is fine there. Because of the dates on this I MUST believe this is related to the cancel of the IE8 installation. How can I make things right again? I would love to have my IE7 working correctly again AND be able to use my printer. I don't know how to correct the situation. Please advise. Thanking you in advance. I am tryingtolearn. -- Computer newbie. Please use SIMPLE explanations. Thank you. Ann |
