Default Keyboard Problems

I just recently purchased a new laptop and it seems that my keyboard is
having problems (which is becoming a little annoying when trying to
write 2000+ page essays).

When I am typing sometimes shortcuts will be in use (as though I have
hit CTRL or SHIFT). I can be writing the letter T and a new tab in
firefox will be created. Is there anyway to fix this?

If it's not inconvenient, why don't you use an external USB keyboard
for those massive typing tasks?

See the problem is I have to bring it to school too - so there's no way
to bring around a USB keyboard.

If it's new, return it for warranty repair or replacement.

If you are just fat fingering keys like I do a lot use keytweak and just
disable certain keys ? I do this for the windows hotkeys which drove me
nuts.
