Hello
I'm having a lot of trouble but can't get any proper information. Vista installation freezes after the first screen where you can see the progres-bar which says "Windows is loading files...". After that the green progress-bar appears and that's all. Only two things happen the 1: the progress-bar is running for hours 2: the progress-bar stops running But in both cases that's all i've ever seen from Vista. I nearly tried all possibilities (completely changed memory, changed DVD-Drive, tested all possible BIOS-Settings, deactivated/activated all on-board components etc.). No success. XP is running on exactly the same system but separate HD without any problem. I bought additional 80 GB SATA Samsung just to have Vista completely separated. My System: Board: MSI 975x Premium (MS-7246) CPU: Intel 940 D RAM: 2x1024 MB Corsair (CM2X1024-5400C4) HD: SATA Samsung 80 GB GPU: NVIDIA 7900 GT (256 MB) The sad thing is that all friends running older systems don't have any problems. I would really appreciate all suggestions & hints. |

Hi Mr.zylinder,
I understand your frustration! Is this an upgrade? or a clean install? Have you run the upgrade wizard? Run that & post the data here... Hoping for an answer too! I tried both.
I even installed XP again on the HD i planned to use for Vista and started the installation out of XP then. It starts without any problems, copies the files and starts expanding it. Then it automatically reboots and that's it. Same behaviour. With the upgrade wizard you mean Vista Update Advisor? This runs fine and only shows some minor issues (new driver for Realtek audio required & compatibility issues with Windows Messenger) The rest says "No action required" "EricW" wrote: Hi Mr.zylinder, I understand your frustration! Hi Guys .. Amazing! I have the exact problem as Zy has! Same MoBo, RAM Size, and 256MB nVidia NX7600. There's a small difference though, I have TWO Hard Drives: a WD 320GB SATA + 100GB EIDE. I've done every thing as Zy did, but same problem! I've alos installed Windows XP SP2 Fresh Install, then ran Vista (from within Windows XP), and it asked me weather to Upgrade OR Fresh install (previous widnows will NOT work). Same problem. Copy files, reboot, then die! I'm planning to do one more thing later tonight: Un-Plug ALL USB & External Devices (WebCam, Printers, etc.), and give it another! I was so frustrated that Vista Installed in approx. 30 minutes on my 2 GHz Notebook PC & my 3 GHz Office PC! sop And here I am stuck with this Super MSI 975X MoBo, with 2 GB RAM .. sop To add more frustration, I've looked all over MSI WebSite for Tech Support related postings .. none were available I'm starting to lose faith in MSI Keep'ya posted! -- Saifullah ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Saifullah's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=21471 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=668058 http://forums.techarena.in |

I would really appreciate all suggestions & hints. I finally figured out my problem with VISTA freezing at loading files. It was a hardware problem. I finally tracked it down to an incompatible stick of RAM. I would suggest that any hardware that is installed is 1 compatible with your motherboard and 2nd is up to snuff with Windows Vista. After swapping each piece of hardware, I finally tracked it down to the RAM. Would have been nice if at least there were some error messages. What else is new though. Good luck! |

First thing you should disable Jmicron from bios, put HDD ide on IDE blue connector from mobo. Try in this way.

I have had this problem for awhile now. Originally I believed it was related
to my optical drive itself, because even booting off of the MSDN version of the disk (I got a copy curteousy of my employer) it would do the same thing. None of the steps suggested here, or on any other thread relating to this problem has solved the issue. The only thing I can see that seems to be a comonality, is that the other users that listed their motherboard, stated that they were using MSI motherboards. I am also using an MSI motherboard, but according to their site it is fully compatible with Vista. I'm kind of at a loss here. Does anyone know what else the problem could be? And yes, I checked my RAM. It is both compatible, and in good working order. System Stats: AMD Athlon X2 +3800 (Dual Core) 2GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 250GB Raptor 10,000RPM SATA eVGA GeForce 7900 GT KO x2 MSI K9N SLI Premium mobo "mr.zylinder" wrote: Hello I'm having a lot of trouble but can't get any proper information. That is really funny, I recognized that most of people having the same installation freezing troubles have both SATA and UATA discs. Yeasterday I had an idea to cut off two SATA drives I have together with 2 UATA drives .. ooups .. and the installation finished and VISTA running!! But to disable the drives in BIOS is not enough! After the installation finished I tryied to re-connect two other SATA drives, unfortunatelly the system has frozen up after starting. What should this mean Microsoft??
