Physical memory
Recently upgraded RAM from 2GB to 4GB. Vista memory diagnostic tool reports no errors found. System recognized memory at 4GB but task manager indicates total physical memory at just over 2500MB. Does this mean that Vista only addresses a little over 2500MB of memory only? Is the 1500MB excess wasted? -- benson.gs |

Some of that 4 GB is used onboard the computer to address hardware installed in the computer. Some may be used by your onboard graphics card. As long as you are showing 4 GB by system, not a whole lot you can do to increase program memory. May try to decrease the shared memory for the video card but otherwise.... |
