joe wrote: Avg [sigh] You will find that providing one or two-word answers and no details will not get you help. I'm not going to spend my time trying to drag the details out of you. So here are links to show you what you need to provide in order to get focused help, as well as the First and Second Questions of Troubleshooting for you to answer. Come back with all pertinent details and we can go from there. Or take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place). How to Post: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Usenet http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375 - How to Ask a Question http://users.tpg.com.au/bzyhjr/liszt.htm - How Not to Get Technical Help on Usenet http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't? The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this? Be sure the computer is clean: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware And if you think your computer is completely fine except for Windows Defender, there is a dedicated newsgroup for it: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...s/default.mspx If you choose to post there, you should provide the necessary information for the WD experts to help you.
