Hello.
Hibernation seems to have disappeared in Windows Vista Pre-RC1. I found an help and support article that told me that Standby and Hibernation have been replaced by "Sleep" but the problem is that Sleep has the same effect as Standby on my computer (It's not a laptop computer). How could I recover the Hibernation option ? Thanks. Patrick Schevenels |

Sleep (aka Hybrid Sleep) *should* be an improvement over Hibernate, but you
can enable Hibernate as follows: Start-p-o-w-e-r (Press Enter) Click "Change plan settings" for your power plan Click "Change advanced power settings" Expand "Sleep+Hibernate after" in the tree view Click on "Never" and pick the desired number of minutes Alternatively, you can set Hibernate to be your power button action: Start-p-o-w-e-r (Press Enter) Click "Choose what the power button does" (on left) Choose Hibernate from the drop-down Also note that a BIOS update may resolve power problems, making Hybrid Sleep a better experience. -- David Goll Windows Portable Devices Team This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hibernate has completely disappeared for me on pre-RC1 build 5536. Can't
find it in those settings at all. It just isn't there. Sleep is, but not Hibernate. The strange thing is, that after first install, Hibernate was an option. It has since vanished. On my computer, "sleep" seems to have become death! When I close my laptop
the computer goes to sleep as it should. When I raise the laptop, I have to hit the power button to resume (as before) but the computer only goes to the logon screen and then freezes. I can't log on and the mouse doesn't work. No keys work and I have to reboot. Anyone else with this problem. I have bugged it. "Schevenels Patrick" wrote: Hello. Hi jo,
Yes I am getting exactly the same problems as you post. Im using5728 and after deleting the hibernation sys file using disk cleanup, it is no longer an option to select it again.... Looks like it is wait for 5900 and upgrade. Cheers Andrew "Jo" wrote: On my computer, "sleep" seems to have become death! When I close my laptop the computer goes to sleep as it should. The same thing happened to me after the disk cleanup, but on RC2.

Yes, if you delete the Hibernation file with Disk Cleanup,
it disables Hibernation. Type this "powercfg -h on" into the Start Menu's search bar, hit enter. I am using Vista without UAC on, so you may have to right click on the search result and select "Run as Administrator". -Michael "ictiosapiens" wrote in message ...
