I'm running an Acer Aspire 5610 with Windows Home Basic. I've been
having problems with my computer not starting correctly or freezing
often. Usually I can start the computer with the last known good
configuration and have no problems (a simple fix for me, since I know
relatively little about computer hardware).

Today, I received errors that many of my programs executable files
couldn't run because the OLEACC.dll file was missing. Some browsing
online led me to run "sfc /scannnow" and "chkdsk" in safe mode.

sfc /scannow gets to 55% completion then stops, with the message
"Windows Resource Protection could not complete the requested
operation."

chkdsk gives me the error message:
"The type of the file system is NTFS.
The volume is in use by another process. Chkdsk.
might report errors when no corruption is present.
Volume label is Briana esta sexay [my boyfriend did
that...embarassing].

WARNING! F parameter not specified.
Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.

CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3)...
File record segment 168241 is corrupt. file records processed)
File record segment 169232 is corrupt.
File record segment 169233 is corrupt.
File record segment 168234 is corrupt.
197376 file records processed.
File verification complete.
725 large file records processed.

Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read-only mode."

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don't know where my system
disk is, because I've had these laptop for several years and moved at
least 4 times (that's college for you) during that time period.

Try running chkdsk with either the /r of /f switch, such as chkdsk /r.
You'll be asked if you want it to run the next time you boot up since it
can't lock the drive in Windows. Answer Y. Reboot and let it run and see if
it fixes any errors then.

It's possible the hard drive is giving out. Bouncing around for 4 years
takes its toll on them, too. Download and run the diagnostics from the drive
manufacturer's web site and see if any errors crop up. It's always a good
idea to back up your data before running any drive diagnostics just in case.
