vista tried to update. All the updates took except for kb954155. I
have tried to do the stand alone update and it will not take. I have
gone into the datastore and removed the folders in there to try and get
it to install with no luck any ideas?

Try also this one with aggressive mode:'How do I reset Windows Update
components?' (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058)
If it don't help too:Are you sure you have trouble with only one
hotfix?
Error which you have as far as I know addressed to coruption files in
*C:\Windows\Servicing* and *C:\Windows\WinSxS* folders (if easy things
don't help). If you already ran Readiness Tool it should created
*CheckSur.log* file in *C:\Windows\Logs\CBS* folder -please paste this
log to post

Megabyteme,

The error has *nothing* do to with the Datastore subfolder rather,
there's corruption or inconsistencies in WinSxS.
Did you run the System Update Readiness Tool as Flavius had previously
suggested ?
Error 80073712 is listed on the error table and running CheckSUR
*should* resolve it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
