Default Backup error

I'm trying to backup computer to an external hard drive using Vista home
premium. Keep getting the error message 0x81000006, Windows cannot find the
drive. The drive it cannot find is a USB port that I use all the time to
copy files to a flash drive. Only when I try the backup, I get the error
message. Anyone know what this is about and how to get around it? Thanks,
Don P.

This sounds familiar... I believe you are not permitted to back up to the
root of the drive, and need to make a directory, and to point the software
THERE, to perform the backup. You didn't say what software you were using to
perform the backup with, or if you were just copying and pasting files from
one drive to another.
