Hello,
I am having trouble with my network in Windows 7. My firewall recognizes my network on all three computers and they are all correctly named. Ethernet, but wireless gives no luck either. It's set to home network, with network drives mapped on all computers. Vista worked well this way but on 7 the network in Windows Explorer only recognizes the computer it's opened on. Any help appreciated. |

Hi
First read this, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ing-essentials and look at this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...with-homegroup Then click on Change Advances sharing settings (upper left in the Network and Sharing Center) Pull down the Home and Work Menu and check the correct entries. As for the rest of the system. Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party Firewall instructions. General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted Vista File and Printer Sharing- http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727037.aspx Windows XP File Sharing - http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;304040 http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;304040 Printer Sharing XP - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...utt_july2.mspx Windows Native Firewall setting for Sharing XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875357 Windows XP patch for Sharing with Vista (Not need for XP-SP3) - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922120 When done Hard reboot the computers and the Router. I would disable the firewall for now for testing purposes to see whether or not that is causing it. If not, please post an ipconfig log of the machine that won't connect. -- CrucialHoax |
