Using Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and an HP 5550c scanner. My ADF works fine
in Windows Fax, Windows Scan, Paperport, but in Windows Document
Imaging, it scans the one page and that is it! It stops!

Likewise when I try scanning a multipage document in Picasa 3 using the
ADF. One page, and that's it.

Any ideas? I've checked all the settings I can find.

It may be that your are using an included in Vista driver instead of a full
feature driver from the OEM.
Initially, one of my late model epson all in ones behaved this way until I
downloaded updated drivers from Epson.
My HP scanner is a bit more problematic, in that it can use either the HP
supplied driver and software, or the WIA software.
Seems the WIA driver and the HP drivers have some issues with each other.
Some applications seem to favor one driver or thr the other, but not both.
One, a well known publishing/illustration/photo edit program, adds a third
driver scheme to the mix.
