Hi,
I'm tryingto install Win 7 to a USB harddisk but I'm getting an error message saying that Win 7 can not be installed on a USB drive. Microsoft support people say it could be done, but they would not offer help. Has anyone an idea? |

It can be installed from a USB flash disk, but not to a USB disk.

Just like Windows XP and Vista before it, you can not install the operating system onto a USB (or any other external) drive. The installation program won't allow it. What I suspect the MS people thought you were doing is attempting to install Win 7 FROM a USB drive. |
