Defender is turned off and notice says that it can only be turned back on via
"GROUP POLICY". How do I do this? Information on group policy seems very
complicated and I'm hoping there is an easy solution to turning Defender back
on. Help!!! I am running Vista

Windows Vista editions that support Group Policy are Business,
Enterprise, and Ultimate.

1) Is the system running one of those editions ?
2) What is the installed antivirus/security suite ?
3) What was the result when the system was last scanned for the presence
of malware and when was that done ?

Hello and Welcome to Vista Forum.

You did not give too much information in your post and ultimately you
may have to
provide an answer to the questions that were asked by the previous
poster.

If I may venture a guess, it would be my opinion that you may be using
MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) as your anti virus.

If that is the case, your Defender is turned off intentionally, as its
function is no longer
required. Its functions are being performed by MSE.

If you have any further problems or questions, just post, again. Your
questions will always be welcome at the Forum, Good Luck.
