Default can i update vista sp1 to windows 7 ultimate

both are 64bit. I got this new laptop and I want to run windows 7 ultimate
on it. charlie

Hi,

Download and run the upgrade advisor first, especially for the laptop. Make
sure drivers are available from the manufacturer to support the system
hardware.

Upgrade Advisor:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Provided the systems can support Win7, then yes you can upgrade.

From 32-bit to 64-bit always requires a clean install. But Charlie said
"both are 64bit", so the upgrade should work fine in his case - but he
should follow Rick's advice and check it out first.
