Since 10 July I have been running Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista build 5384
on a dual boot basis. Both of the relevant partitions are on my fixed HDD (IDE port 0) together with a third partition which is reserved for data only. I also have a "slot-in" caddy on IDE port 1 which enables me to use a number of different HDDs (one at a time of course) for external storage - including offsite backups. On top of this, I have an external USB HDD. I have not accessed Windows Vista extensively and have not installed many of the applications I use on XP. However, I am finding that problems have developed when using XP which seem to be due to driver corruption. I would therefore like to uninstall BOTH Windows Vista AND the dual boot program completely as I suspect that deleting the Vista partition only is unlikely to be fully effective. However, I have seen nothing at all relating to the uninstallation of that part of the dual boot program which has been installed on the XP partition. Can this be uninstalled and, if so, HOW?? I would mention that I do have an alternative course of action as I have a Norton Ghost backup of my XP partition as at 1st July. This could be restored to the first partition on the fixed HDD after deleting and formatting both that partition and the Vista partition. My data, being on a separate partition, will not be affected and the restored XP partition would only need minor updating. However, I would prefer to uninstall the dual boot and only use my backup as a last resort. Any advice and assistance will be gratefully received. |
