Did this just start without making any changes to anything related to
Windows Mail? Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for loss of messages. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in Custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the option arises. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "Moore's Floors" Moore's wrote in message ... i can receive but can't send. error message received is The connection to the server has failed. I currently have no AV program. I just have windows defender..
Could it be something else? My quickbooks program just changed from emailing estimates & invoices directly from quickbooks to sending them to my windows mail outbox. This is my first time using my windows mail and I can't get anything to send "Bruce Hagen" wrote: Did this just start without making any changes to anything related to Windows Mail? Double check your settings with these:
http://email.about.com/od/outlookexp...t_free_gmx.htm No AV program? You're playing with fire. Download and run this program: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes...-10804572.html Then get an e-mail program. These are both good and are freeware. I currently use MSE. Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html In the case of Avast, choose Custom Installation and under Resident Protection, uncheck: Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange. Microsoft Security Essentials: http://www.microsoft.com/security_es...s/default.aspx (No e-mail scanning to worry about) -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "Moore''s Floors" wrote in message ... Chances are, GMX is not your ISP. As such, the ISP you are
using to connect to the Internet will block your use of any port 25 SMTP server other than their own. For an explanation of this anti-spamming policy, see http://www.postcastserver.com/help/P..._Blocking.aspx Let us know if you are sending from home or on the road, and which ISP you are using. -- Gary VanderMolen, Microsoft MVP (Mail) Microsoft MVP Program: http://mvp.support.microsoft.com "Moore's Floors" Moore's wrote in message ... i can receive but can't send. error message received is The connection to the server has failed.
