Default KB978380 Error Code 8007006E

I repeatedly encounter this error when trying to apply the update to my
Vista Home Premium 64-bit system.

I have Office 2003, not 2007.

Any suggestions on how to either get rid of this update or successfully
install it would be greatly appreciated.

Right click on the update in the update list and choose "Hide".

I don't have any pending updates to check the exact syntax above, so you
may have to use your imagination to interpret my advice...

I was able to hide the update. Checking my update history I noticed there
were a number of other similar updates that had failed in the past - all
related to Office 2007 security. I find this curious since I don't have
Office 2007 installed here.

No Office 2007 here either.

I have suspected (but have no proof) that there are some Office 2007
components installed to help 2003 with later files.
