Win 98 cannot access vista shares
Hi,
I have have 4 computers on one network. Two of them are running XP Pro SP3, 1 is running Win 98SE and the other is running Vista X64 Home Premium SP2. All of the PCs can see each other on the network. All of the PCs can access each others shares except for the win98 machine. It can access the XPs but cannot access the Vista. All of the PCs show up in Network Neighborhood, but when I try to access the Vista machine I get a dialog box that prompts me to enter network password. "You must supply a password to make this connection." "Resource \\Vista computer\IPC$ " "Password _________________ " I have same IDs set up on both the Win98 and Vista PCs. Turning off windows firewall on the Vista machine was no help. I think the problem lies in Vista's authentication but I really don't know. I'm at my wit's end with this problem. I would appreiciate any help that is offered. Thanks, WillyG |

If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party Firewall instructions.
