Default Pre Vista DVD RAM uninstall

Pre Vista upgrade readiness list for my machine says to uninstall my DVD RAM
driver. If I uninstall the driver for my dvd ram will my machine still read
from the drive when I insert the Vista disk?

As far as I know you do not need a dvd-ram driver.
vista supports udf, just drag & drop
I did not install the driver for my dvd-ram and all is well
If you need to format/erase a disk, do it from the command prompt
Just type format /? for list of options
for instance
format d: /FS:UDF /Q
formats drive D: /file system udf 2.0 /quick format

Default Pre Vista DVD RAM uninstall

I suspect that Windows would use a generic driver.
