very deeply recessed--so deep that ambient light doesn't get to them. I
keep a small flashlight next to my computer so I can find the right slot.

Microsoft iSCSI Initiator. What is that? Says it is working properly.

the driver in the device manager is for slot driver or usb port driver..
when you connect a crad it should auto detect the card..
give some more info what u can't do..
